This is the category with the widest gap between what is offered and what is proven. I would rather you went in knowing which is which.
A transfer medium enriched with hyaluronan, intended to help the embryo adhere to the lining. It is inexpensive, carries no risk, and there is reasonable evidence of a modest benefit — particularly for patients with previous failed transfers. A sensible add-on rather than a decisive one.
A lipid emulsion given intravenously, on the theory that it modulates an immune response contributing to implantation failure. The evidence base is genuinely contested and it is not standard care in most national health systems. It is available here, and where you have had several unexplained failures with good embryos it is a reasonable thing to try — but I will not describe it to you as proven, because it is not.
The least glamorous item on this page and the one that most often matters. Oestrogen and progesterone protocols are adjusted to get the lining to an adequate thickness and pattern before transfer, and a transfer is postponed if it is not there. Postponing feels like a setback in the moment; transferring into an unready lining wastes an embryo.
Worth knowing
If you have not yet had a failed transfer, you probably do not need any of this. The default answer to 'should I add it?' on a first cycle is no.
